About Me

Who am I? Once, Rumi wrote You are what you seek, Andre Breton begins its novel Nadga with the same "Who am I?" and then says, "If I were to rely on a proverb, then perhaps everything would amount to knowing whom I 'haunt'". Whom do I haunt? Or am I haunted by? Dead souls, probably; that's what I seek.
I am an Iranian visual storyteller in photography and film, making work where time runs backward. I don’t live in the present tense. Trained as a chemical engineer, pulled sideways into cinema by Abbas Kiarostami, now shoot in Turin — dead factories, cemeteries, rooms a family just left. Persian by birth, Italian by habit, I try to move between mediums the way I move between languages: without much interest in the border.
